TOUR ITINERARY

Day 1 - Arrive Chengdu
On arrival into Chengdu and after completing any necessary Customs and Immigration formalities you will be met by your friendly China Holidays guide who will transfer you to the Emeishan Hotel where you will overnight.

Day 2 - Chengdu / Lhasa

There will be a visit to the renowned Panda Research Centre in the morning followed by a Sichuan lunch before you are transferred to the airport for your flight to Lhasa. Upon arrival you will be met by your local China Holidays guide and transferred to the Kailash Hotel where you will spend two nights. The airport is some 100 kilometres from the city so there will be some time to relax and take in the scenery along the way. (B/L/D)

Day 3 - Lhasa

Today you will depart to visit the vast and imposing Potala Palace and in the afternoon a visit to the Jorkhang Temple and Barkhore Street. This evening there will be an opportunity to experience a local Tibetan dinner whilst being entertained by Tibetan folk singing and dancing. (B/L/D)

Day 4 - Lhasa / Tesdang

Early this morning you will depart for Tsedang. The journey is about 220km and will take a little over 3 hours. Here you will visit the motherland and origins of the Tibetan culture. There will be a visit to the first palace in Tibet, Yombulakang, the first farmland and the Changzu Temple - also called the Pearl Monastery. You will then be transferred to the Yulong Holiday where you will stay two nights. (B/L/D)

Day 5 - Tsedang

This morning a visit to Samye, the first monastery in Tibet then take a wooden skiff powered by a tractor engine to cross the Yaluzhangbu River where you can enjoy the historical site of Tibetan Buddhism and study the different architectures of the Tibetan, Chinese and Indian Monasteries. (B/L/D)

Day 6 - Tsedang / Gyantse

You will depart to Gyantse today. Gyantse is a well-known Tibetan cultural town in the South West of Tibet. This is a journey of some 350kms with some testing road conditions. On the way to Gyantse, you will cross two big passes, the Gangbula and Karula passes, and a most wonderful scenic spot, the holy lake - Yomdrok Lake which covers some 880 square kilometres. On arrival into Gyantse you will be transferred to Gyantse Hotel for overnight. (B/L/D)

Day 7 - Gyantse / Shigatse

Gyantse is well known for its’ Kumbu Monastery and the Ruins of Zhongshan. Gyantse is also called “Hero Town” because of its defence against the invading British army in 1904. The murals in the Kumbu Monastery are highly regarded and treasured. When visiting the Zhongshan Ruins you can find the feature view of the old county in Tibet. After lunch you will depart for Shigatse where you will spend two nights at the Shigatse Manasarouar Hotel (B/L/D)

Day 8 - Shigatse / Lhase

Shigatse is the second largest city in Tibet, it's well known by its typical west Tibetan customs and culture. The monastery, Tashilunpo is the residence of Banchan of all ages and is one of the major monasteries of the yellow sect with the world's largest bronze statute built in 1904, The Qianba Buddha. There will also be a visit to the New Palace of Banchan Lama and the local free Market with rich Tibetan handmade arts and crafts. (B/L/D)

Day 9 - Shigatse / Lhase

This morning you will depart back to Lhasa by road following the Yaluzhangbu River. The journey takes about 5 hours and on arrival you will check in to the Kailash Hotel for overnight. (B/L/D)

Day 10 - Lhasa / Chengdu

There will be some free time in Lhasa to explore at your own pace before you are transferred to the airport for your flight to Chengdu. On arrival your friendly China Holidays guide will meet you and transfer you to the Emeishan Hotel where you will overnight. (B)

Day 11 - Depart Chengdu

Today you farewell Chengdu as your guide meets you and transfers you to the airport for your onward flight. (B)
