TOUR ITINERARY

Day 1 - Arrive Shanghai
On arrival into Shanghai and after completing all necessary Customs and Immigration formalities you will be met by your friendly China Holidays guide who will transfer you to your hotel where you will spend three nights.

Day 2 - Shanghai

A full day tour of Shanghai today taking in the Bund and the Yu Gardens. Then join a local family for lunch in their home and if you are interested, you can learn how to cook Shanghainese cuisine from your host. In the afternoon, we make a stop at a local community centre for a chance to see the local children ‘in action’! Extracurricular lessons in all things creative are popular in “Children's Palaces” across China – from Peking Opera to Chinese Chess, from sketching to music lessons on traditional Chinese instruments. Try your hand at Chinese calligraphy in a fun class with the kids. This evening, enjoy a short cruise on the Huangpu River. (B/L/D)

Day 3 - Zhouzhuang

We head out of Shanghai today to the town of Zhouzhuang, one of the more famous water townships in China. It is noted for its profound cultural background, the well preserved ancient residential houses, the elegant watery views and the strong local coloured traditions and customs. In the evening enjoy a visit to an acrobatic show. (B/L)

Day 4 - Shanghai / Hangzhou

This morning your guide will meet you and transfer you to the station where you will board your train to Hangzhou. On arrival you will be met by your local China Holidays guide and transferred to your hotel where you will spend one night. This afternoon you will visit the West Lake with it’s famous islands and causeways. The will also be a visit to Lingyin Temple built originally in 326AD and if time permits a visit to a local tea plantation. (B/L/D)

Day 5 - Hangzhou / Suzhou

After breakfast at your hotel you will travel to Suzhou by road. Here you will visit a local Silk factory where you will get a close up view of its production and processing. You will also visit the Hanshan Temple, The Humble Administrators Garden and take a short cruise along the ancient canals before arriving at your hotel for overnight. (B/L/D)

Day 6 - Suzhou / Nanjing

Transfer this morning to the railway station for the short train journey to Nanjing. Here you will be met by your local China Holidays guide and depart to visit the Yangtze Bridge, Sun Yat Sen’s Mausoleum, The Massacre Museum and the Linggu Temple with it’s beamless hall. You will then check in to your hotel where you will stay two nights. (B/L/D)

Day 7 - Nanjing

Today’s touring will take you to the Confucius Temple, The Nanjing Museum and the beautiful Botanical Gardens before heading out to visit the Ming Tombs located on the southern slopes of Zijan Shan and the Zhonghua Gate said to be able to hold an impregnable garrison of 3000 men. (B/L)

Day 8 - Nanjing / Shanghai

Today you farewell Nanjing as your guide meets you and transfers you to the station for the short train journey back to Shanghai. On arrival you will be met and transferred to the airport for your onward flight. (B)
