A tour of the places and sights most travellers wish to have incorporated in one itinerary! From the grandeur of Beijing, the Great Wall, Warriors of Xi’an, the mighty Yangtze, and beautiful Li Rivers, to the bustling, modern city of Shanghai; it will all be experienced on this tour.

Price Includes:

• International air travel, economy class, with Singapore Airlines, Malaysia Airlines, or Thai Airways ex Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth. Note: for travel ex Perth with Singapore Airlines add $70 per person.
• Four star hotels and five star cruise ship as listed, or similar

Tour prices and inclusions based on a minimum of 10 people. International airport and airline taxes and fuel surcharges are not included and must be added. Due to flight schedules, some passengers may require an overnight stop in Singapore, Kuala Lumpur or Bangkok on the way to or from China, at own expense. This tour may be taken as an independent tour, departing any day - prices on request.

TOUR ITINERARY

Day 1 - Australia to Beijing
Fly from Australia to Beijing. On arrival you will be met and transferred to the Jianguo Garden Hotel for a stay of three nights. (D)

Day 2 - Beijing

Today you will visit the famous sights of Beijing, including the majestic Forbidden City, Tian’anmen Square, the Temple of Heaven and the Summer Palace, the summer retreat of the imperial court set in beautiful gardens with lakes and pavilions. In the evening attend a Chinese Kongfu Show. (B,L,D)

Day 3 - Great Wall excursion

Travel north from the city to the Great Wall of China and take the cable car to the top of the wall where you can walk and appreciate the scale of this remarkable structure as it snakes down valleys and along ridge lines as far as the eye can see. On the way back to Beijing stop at the Ming Tombs and stroll along the Sacred Way lined with animal statues. In the evening enjoy a Peking Duck Dinner. (B,L,D)

Day 4 - Beijing to Xian

In the morning tour the Hutongs, Beijing’s ancient, narrow streets, by rickshaw before being transferred for the flight to Xian. On arrival check in to the New World Hotel for a two night stay. (B,L,D)

Day 5 - Xian

Today you will see another amazing sight; the Terracotta Warriors and Horses still standing in battle formation as placed 2000 years ago. Included is a full circle movie presentation providing the historical perspective for the main exhibition halls where excavation and restoration work is on going. Later visit the remains of the 6,000 year old Banpo Village before ending the day with a traditional Dumpling Dinner whilst being entertained by the colourful Tang Dance Show. (B,L,D)

Day 6 - Xian to Guilin

This morning visit the Shaanxi Provincial Museum, one of the best museums in China before walking around the City Walls and the Big Wild Goose Pagoda, built to house Buddhist scriptures. Fly to Guilin late afternoon and check into the Bravo Hotel for a 2 night stay. (B,L,D)

Day 7 - Guilin

See the incredible underground scenery in the Reed Flute Caves, visit Elephant Trunk Hill and climb Fubo Hill for views over the city. (B,L,D)

Day 8 - Li River Cruise to Yangshuo

Cruise the unique Li River which meanders through beautiful, diverse scenery. Disembark at Yangshuo which is surrounded by limestone pinnacles, and wander through the town and market before checking in at the New Century Hotel for the night. (B,L,D)

Day 9 - Yangshuo to Chongqing

Enjoy the charming rural setting on a tour of the countryside around Yangshuo. In the afternoon, fly to Chongqing to embark your Yangtze cruise ship, the MV Yantze No. 1. Settle in and become familiar with the ship’s facilities and sailing schedule (they may differ slightly to the cruise described below). Accommodation is in two berth cabins with ensuite and balcony. All meals, entertainment and shore excursions are included. (B,L,D)

Day 10 - Yangtze River Cruise

The shore excursion today is to the striking wooden structure on the cliff face at Shibaozhai, or perhaps the ‘Ghost City’ of Fengdu with its temple devoted to the king of the underworld. Sail through Qutang Gorge, the first of the famous Three Gorges. (B,L,D)

Day 11 - Yangtze River Cruise

Shore excursion to Shennon Stream (or Lesser Three Gorges), pass Wu Gorge, and cross the five step ship lock during the night. (B,L,D)

Day 12 - Yichang to Shanghai

Visit the Yangtze Dam and pass through Xiling Gorge, the last of the Three Gorges. Disembark the ship late this morning at Yichang and transfer to the airport for your flight to Shanghai. On arrival check into the Park Hotel for a 2 night stay. In the evening cruise the Huangpu River for views of the spectacular city lights. (B,L,D)

Day 13 - Shanghai

A full day sightseeing includes the Yu Gardens with its Tea House, the Pearl TV Tower for panoramic views over Shanghai, and the Urban Planning Hall. In the evening enjoy a vibrant and skilful Acrobatic Show. (B,L,D)

Day 14 - Depart Shanghai

There’s time for some shopping on Nanjing Road, then say farewell to China as you are transferred to the airport by the super-fast Maglev train for your flight home. (B)
