Day 1 - Arrive Beijing On arrival into Beijing and after completing any necessary Customs and Immigration formalities you will be met by your friendly China Holidays guide who will transfer you to your hotel where you will spend four nights.
Day 2 - Beijing A delightful day is spent visiting some of the sights of Beijing. The Forbidden City, home to two dynasties of Emperors spanning 500 years; Tiananmen Square, the heart of Beijing and the architectural wonders of the Temple of Heaven. (B/L)
Day 3 - Beijing Today, the highlight for many a visitor to Beijing a visit to The Great Wall at Badaling, undoubtedly one of the greatest man-made wonders of the world. There will also be a visit to the Sacred Way and the Exhibition Hall of the Ming Tombs. On the way we will pass by the Olympic Park where in passing you will get a brief view of the facilities for the 2008 Olympic Games. This evening enjoy a performance of Beijing Opera. (B/L)
Day 4 - Beijing This morning you will visit the Summer Palace and Beijing Zoo. After lunch a visit to the “Hutongs” the local residential area by Pedicab or cycle rickshaw where you will get an interesting glimpse into the lives of the traditional Beijing citizens, then a visit to the Silk Market where negotiation skills are put to the test as you seek out bargains. This evening a Peking Duck Dinner will be arranged. (B/L/D)
Day 5 - Shanghai After breakfast at your hotel you will be transferred to the airport for your onward flight to Shanghai. On arrival in Shanghai you will be met by your friendly China Holidays guide and transferred to your hotel. This afternoon you will visit the Jin Mao Tower, where from the Observation deck you will get a panoramic view of the city. Then take a stroll along the Bund and enjoy a short cruise on the Huangpu River. (B/L)
Day 6 - Shanghai Full day tour of Shanghai today taking in the Bund and the Yu Gardens. Then join a local family for lunch in their home and if you are interested, you can learn how to cook Shanghainese cuisine from your host. In the afternoon, we make a stop at a local community centre for a chance to see the local children ‘in action’! Extracurricular lessons in all things creative are popular in “Children's Palaces” across China – from Peking Opera to Chinese Chess, from sketching to music lessons on traditional Chinese instruments. Try your hand at Chinese calligraphy in a fun class with the kids. (B/L/D)
Day 7 - Depart Shanghai Today you farewell Shanghai and China as your guide meets you and transfers you to the airport for your onward flight. (B)
