FULL DAY GREAT WALL & MING TOMBS TOUR WITH LUNCH

• AUD128
• Duration approx. 9 Hours

The renowned Great Wall totals more than 12,000 km, and is arguably China’s most prominent image throughout. The only man made object visible from the moon, The Wall stretches from the east coast to the Gobi Desert in the west. In many locations, separate walls purposed to keep out marauding nomads, were linked up. The most popular area of the wall is located at Badaling.

A visit to the Ming Tombs and Sacred Way, located 50 km north-west of Beijing, is commonly linked with the Great Wall tours. The Tombs are the resting places for the Ming Emperors.

FULL DAY GREAT WALL TOUR at MUTIANYU INCLUDING LUNCH

• AUD133
• Duration approx. 9 hours

The Great Wall at Mutianyu showcases the numerous watch towers that were erected by the Emperor to look out for the marauding Mongols from the north. However, as the leader of the Mongols, Genghis Khan, famously said, “A wall is only as strong as the men who guard it”. Both the dramatic mountainous vista and the less commercial setting have made Mutianyu one of the increasingly popular parts of the wall to visit. For those visitors who are unable to walk far, there is the option of taking a cable car to the wall. On the flip side, if you like a bit of adrenaline and want an unique experience, why not take the exhilarating toboggan ride (luge) from the wall back down to the visitor centre. Whatever you do at the Great Wall at Mutianyu, you’ll be guaranteed an unforgettable day!

FULL DAY GREAT WALL TOUR AT SIMATAI INCLUDING LUNCH

• AUD167
• Duration approx. 9 hours

Whilst the Great Wall at Simatai is one of the furthest parts of the wall from Beijing, this is also its appeal. Having been only partially restored, the visitor can get an impression of what the wall was like when it was originally built nearly 700 years ago. The Simatai section, with its densely-dispersed watchtowers winding along mountain ridges, is spectacular. These watchtowers are well preserved and with some covering mountain peaks almost one thousand meters high, the views, over this 5.4 kilometre section, are breathtaking. Please note that as Simatai has only been partially repaired, this section of the wall is less suitable for those people who may require assistance whilst walking.

FULL DAY GREAT WALL WALKING TOUR FROM JINSHALING TO SIMATAI INCLUDING LUNCH

• AUD182
• Duration approx. 9 hours

If you’ve ever wanted to walk along one of the wonders of the world, then this is the day trip for you. Drive with your guide, in your own private vehicle, to the Great Wall at Simatai. The wall at Simatai has only been partially restored, so it gives the visitor a more genuine glimpse of the original structure. With the guide, walk for 10 kilometres along the wall (approx 4 hours), at your own pace, whilst enjoying the spectacular views of the surrounding countryside. Please note that whilst you do not need to have the fitness of an athlete at the Beijing Olympic Games, a moderate level of fitness is required, as the wall can be steep in certain areas. Finish the trip at the Jinshaling section of the Great Wall, where your driver will be waiting for you, ready to return you to the comfort of your hotel. If this isn’t the highlight of your trip to China, we’d like to know what is!
